Procrastination

Procrastination is the tendency to delay actions without an expectation that we will be better off as a result of the delay. We see procrastination when we decide not to go to the gym today and push it to tomorrow, or when we start watching a new TV show instead of making progress on our homework. Typically, procrastination involves delaying a task that needs to be completed further in the future, that may be rewarding in the future but might not be very pleasant in the present. Incorporating intermediate deadlines and implementation intentions have been shown to help reduce procrastination.
